We all find ourselves in conflicts time and again. Sometimes we feel them more subtly.
Sometimes there is open conflict that flares up. Sometimes the conflict can be resolved through a self-initiated clarifying conversation. Often, such a process helps us move forward. This is because it brings greater clarity to the interests, feelings and needs of all those involved and allows us to get to know ourselves and the other person better. ‘Conflict as an opportunity’ is therefore more than just a buzzword.

However, many conflicts become so entrenched that the parties involved end up going round in circles. Conflicts in the workplace cost companies a lot of time and therefore money, as demonstrated by a conflict cost study by KPMG (2009), among others.

Mediation by a professional, impartial third party can help to break out of the spiral of conflict and find solutions that suit everyone.

I work in German, English, Portuguese and Spanish. This gives non-native German speakers the opportunity to switch to another language during mediation if necessary. As a multilingual mediator, I ensure that everyone involved understands everything. 

The prerequisites for mediation are voluntary participation, personal responsibility, and confidentiality on the part of all those involved.

As a certified mediator, I facilitate conflict resolution discussions. In a protected setting, all parties involved in the conflict have an equal opportunity to speak and be heard. I guide the discussion in a clear, structured and sensitive manner.

In mediation, I support the parties to the conflict in the following steps:

1. Description of the conflict situation from the perspective of all parties involved
2. Identification and prioritisation of the issues in conflict
3. Recognition of the various interests and underlying needs
4. Development of ideas for solutions
5. Agreement

If you are interested in mediation, the first step is a non-binding preliminary telephone conversation (up to 30 minutes). You describe the issue to me, I explain how I work and answer your questions. Then we and the parties to the conflict decide whether and when to start the mediation process and what further preparatory steps may be necessary.
